CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
DESCRIPTION
The 2008 Industry Award for
Excellence in Translational Control Research is given to
recognize an individual or a team of faculty researchers whose
research activity arising from Industry-University Collaboration(s)
has produced substantive results with demonstrated impact. It will
be made to the competitor(s) who best demonstrates research with a
high-degree of excellence and effective industry-university
collaboration with proven record of success in translating systems
and control theory and to practical benefits for industrial or
commercial systems.
PRIZE
Award winner will receive $1,750 as
cash prize, a certificate laminated on a plaque and travel expenses
to the MSC08, round trip restricted (minimal) coach air fare,
conference registration, and three hotel nights at conference rate.
FUNDING
Award is funded by Xerox Corporation.
ELIGIBILITY
All continuing faculty members are eligible for this
award.
BASIS FOR JUDGING
Essential:
* Outstanding contribution(s) and
demonstrated impact of the resulting control system technology from
the nominated Industry-University Collaboration
Desirable:
* Promotion and enhancement of
industry employment of control engineering graduate students
* Improved products dependent on
the nominated research
* Leveraging of current and new
systems and control theory for economic advantage.

Presentation
At an MSC
session or special event such as the Conference Banquet.
Nomination
Send an electronic (PDF) copy of
nomination (maximum of 10 pages) together with supporting
documentation to the Chair of the MSC Excellence in Translational
Control Research Committee by the deadline shown below. The
supporting documentation (additional to the 10 page nomination) must
include at least one, and not more than 3 reference letters of not
more than 2 pages each from industry partners addressing the
criteria above.
